Implants and surgery

When teeth are lost, it is often advisable to replace them with implants. An implant replaces the whole root of a tooth and grows fixed to the bone. Correctly placing the implant is essential and non-adjustable. This requires a thorough analysis of each individual case and highly specialized knowledge. Through atraumatic and aesthetic surgery we can adjust the gums around the teeth, what we call "pink aesthetics". The ultimate aim is to achieve an accurate imitation of a natural tooth in a beautiful smile, where "the false tooth" is no longer visible.

With multiple implants we can develop more extensive bridges. Using 3D technology and with close collaboration between the prosthetics specialist and the surgeon, we can offer you a guaranteed aesthetically pleasing result. When teeth are as good as lost, we can extract them, replace them with implants in the same session and provide you with a provisional fixed bridge within 24 hours, or what we call ”immediate loading”. This way you are never without fixed teeth.

Central incisor 21 is entirely broken horizontally and lost. The patient has thin gum and a high smile line.

Zirconia Abutment is CAD CAM designed and on top of this a zirconium porcelain crown is placed. The implant abutment can be seen clearly on the radiographic image. The lateral incisors were built with composite to a good form.

The patient comes for regular checkups. Because of the fine porcelain work and the proper design of the tooth and the gum, we are able to recreate the natural tooth.

The remaining teeth are not able to be retained. On the basis of a scan a 3D planning is made. On the computer we simulate the operation and plan the implants.

Using 3D technology and 3D printing a template is manufactured with holes that exactly match the planned implants on computer. Using this technique, we can make a provisional bridge in advance. The implants are placed through the template and the provisional bridge is screwed on. The patient can bite the same day and has minimal burden.

After further growth and fixation of the implants together with the patient a nice final bridge is designed which is screwed into the mouth by the dentist. Afterwards every six months everything will be controlled by the dentist.

Due to bone loss around the teeth and dental caries, the teeth loosen and eventually, are lost. After a scanning procedure and digital planning the teeth are extracted and implants are placed the same day.

The day after the surgery, the provisional bridge is fixed in the mouth. The temporary bridge is based on the non-innervating implants and doesn’t push on the gums causing the patient to experience little pain as he/she is able to immediately chew again. The same procedure is carried out in the lower jaw. The provisional fixed bridges function as a splint for the implants.

After further solid growth of the implants a permanent bridge is created. In the upper jaw a metal-porcelain bridge is fabricated. In the lower jaw, a titanium-plastic bridge. Afterwards, the patient comes for regular checkups and X-rays are taken.
