MEET OUR DOCTORS

Our name is inspired by the figure of Icarus, whose image enhances our entrance. Icarus, a hero from Greek mythology, is imprisoned along with his father in a labyrinth. Using feathers and wax, he creates wings that allow him to escape from the labyrinth over the sea. However, he must be careful: if he flies too low, his wings will become wet, but if he flies too high, his wings will melt in the sun. We are ambitious and forward-thinking, yet we remain grounded. The golden mean! The practice was founded by Dr. L.C. Peeters, an oral surgeon. In 2007, the practice was taken over by dentist Paule Peeters. Since 2024, dentists Pieter-Jan Swerts and Ben Van Aelst have become co-owners and we are now fully focused on a multidisciplinary specialized approach.

  • Paule Peeters

    PAULE PEETERS

    Specialist in prosthetic and restorative dentistry and implantology

    Graduated in 1994 as a Dentist in Leuven. Subsequently, she pursued a specialization in prosthetic and restorative dentistry for 3 years full time. For several years afterward, she remained active as a consultant at the University of Leuven. She further honed her skills with many domestic and international conferences and regularly gives lectures to dentists about prosthetics and implants. Since 1999, Paule has been an instructor for the Institute for Osseointegration, KUL. She completed the master’s program in implantology under Prof. Eric Rompen and graduated with high distinction in 2008 (Diplome d’étude spécialisées européen en implantologie orale). In 2007, she founded the group practice Icarus.

    PIETER-JAN SWERTS

    Specialist in prostethic and restorative dentistry

    Pieter-Jan Swerts graduated in 2017 with a Master’s in Dentistry from KU Leuven. He then pursued a specialization in prosthetic and restorative dentistry. Since 2023, Pieter-Jan has been a part of the management team of Dental Practice Icarus.

  • Ben Van Aelst

    BEN VAN AELST

    Specialist in endodontics

    Ben Van Aelst graduated in 2019 with a Master’s in Dentistry from KU Leuven. He is pursuing a three-year specialist training in endodontics at UZ Gent. Ben performs root canal treatments (endodontics) using a microscope and high-quality materials to ensure optimal quality. Since 2023, Ben has been a part of the management team of Dental Practice Icarus.

  • Marco

    MARCO GRESNIGT

    Dmd Phd, Specialist in Restorative, Gnathology, and Aesthetic Dentistry

    Marco Gresnigt graduated as a dentist from the University of Groningen. Afterwards, he began his doctoral research and defended his thesis in January 2012 on the clinical and laboratory evaluation of veneers. Alongside his clinical work, Marco lectures at the University of Groningen, conducts research, and teaches at the university clinic. Building on his expertise in aesthetic dentistry, he has also specialized in orthodontics and microsurgery.

    In addition to his clinical and teaching responsibilities, Marco is a member of the NVVRT (Dutch Association for Restorative Dentistry), NVGPT (Dutch Association for Gnathology and Prosthetic Dentistry), and DAED (Dutch Academy for Esthetic Dentistry). He is an editor for the journal TandartsPraktijk and an auditor for Q‑keurmerk, focusing on quality control of dental courses and conferences in the Netherlands.

    Marco gives national and international lectures in the field of aesthetic, minimally invasive, and adhesive dentistry.

    DR. DIDIER DIELEN

    Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

    Dr. Didier Dielen graduated in medicine from the University of Antwerp (class of 2009). He began his training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2014 under the comprehensive supervision of Professor Nasser Nadjmi. After his certification, Dr. Dielen worked for 2.5 years as a staff member in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department at AZ Sint Maarten in Mechelen.

    Since January 2021, he has been employed as a full-time staff member within the ZMACK association. He is affiliated with the AZ Monica hospital campus in Antwerp and the AZ Klina in Brasschaat.

      ELS LAMBRECHTS

      Front desk and practice coördinator

      Els is responsible for the organization of the dental practice. She also coordinates the activities of the Icarus Academy, where the non-profit organization ​“Rest. THK& Impl.” organizes accredited postgraduate courses. The Icarus Academy is located above the practice.
